Watercolour Society of Queensland - Grow volunteer base with better transportation support and give volunteers more opportunities to attend workshops Main Image

Watercolour Society of Queensland would like to apply for the Volunteer grant to increase our volunteer numbers by helping them with transportation support as well as giving them opportunities to attend workshops through fees waiver to acquire and improve watercolour skills as well as working with vulnerable people.

The exhibitions organised by WSQ also help volunteers to learn exhibition curating skills, planning and organising. We would like to waive fees for workshops to volunteers by awarding prize for their artwork entered in the competition section. WSQ organises various painting workshops with known local and international artists and we need help of volunteers during this time, such as setting up of tables, morning tea, sorting materials for workshops, setting up of media equipment etc. We have a Library where we need volunteers to help in catalogue maintenance, arranging the books and magazines. We have a website that needs maintenance and writing communication media messages on social media for marketing purposes. All of the above jobs are done by Volunteers. We are a 100% volunteer driven organisation. These are unpaid volunteers. Members of the society currently also volunteer for the above jobs. We would like to apply to the grant so that we can in some way help ease the efforts of our current and future volunteers in the job they do by way of awards, fuel reimbursement and training fee waivers, also buying computer to ease the online training, maintenance of library catalogue, website, and online payments.
