I welcome Telstra's advice to me today that they are putting on hold their plans to install a small cell at Captain Burke Park at Kangaroo Point.
I wrote to Telstra expressing my firm view that the company must take into account the community's wishes in determining where to install small cells.
I am grateful to Telstra for consulting with and listening to our local community.
Telstra has assured me that the company will use this time to revisit the coverage requirements in the area and explore alternative locations and solutions, including those proposed by the community.
The company has further advised that applicable timeframes for community consultation in relation to any new site will start from the beginning once a decision is made on the proposed location for a small cell or other telecommunications solution in the area.
The community can take pride in the fact that they took the time to make their concerns heard.
