Foodbank funding cuts must be reversed

November 12, 2018

New Liberal government cuts to FoodBank must be reversed immediately.

Today’s report in the Guardian that the government is cutting funding by $323,000 per year is shocking.

Foodbank and its thousands of volunteers provide enough food for tens of millions of meals each year.

Cutting the organisation’s funding in the lead up to Christmas, and in the midst of a drought, is heartless and unbelievable.

In Queensland, Foodbank is based in my electorate at Morningside. The warehouse there is always busy, servicing church groups and charities, and attracting dedicated volunteers who see the organisation’s value.

Scott Morrison and the Liberals must reverse this decision to cut Foodbank’s funding.
